This is a new one for Israel: notorious avant-garde fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto exhibiting over 80 silhouettes at the Holon Design Museum (architect: Ron Arad) from July 5th – October 20th, 2012.
His work, as always, is removed from the latest and the hyped and the temporal trends of yesterday, today, and tomorrow morning. Taking inspiration from the raw fabric itself – “just listen to the material” – this master tailor remains at the forefront of fashion design, receiving the Japanese Medal of Honor, the Ordre national du Mérite, the Royal Designer for Industry and the Master of Design award by Fashion Group International. Though contemporary and always evolving, his loosely draped silhouettes are never without a touch of timeless elegance. See the details for yourself. Hopefully the faddy t-shirt style of Tel Aviv takes a pause and an inspirational look.
