If you know me, then you know already knew this post was coming up. Me: a caffeine junkie of only the highest Direct Trade…stuff. So lately, I’ve taken to hand grinding my own coffee and brewing stovetop espresso. I grew up waking with the sound of coffee being ground in the mornings, so it’s rather comforting to hear it yet again. The taste of this morning’s coffee – a summer espresso blend from Square Mile Coffee Roasters – had notes of pralines, caramel, and figs with a silky non-acidic body. This one, I brewed ‘le Gabriel’ style with a layer of muscovado sugar in the filter. Merce and the Muse, I miss my drink, I’m allowed to brew my own!
