Ofcourse everyone knows the Aviators. It all starts in 1937 when Bausch & Lomb founded the company Ray Ban, intended for the United States Army Air Corps. The original production of “pilot’s glasses” for aviators were made of gold-plated metal frames with G-15 tempered convex glass lenses transmitting 20% of incoming light. Photos of US General MacArthur wearing Aviators when arriving in the Philippines sparked the love for these sunglasses back on his home soil. What a hero wears, the populus loves. The 60s saw the Aviator rage in full swing but it was surpassed beyond belief by the 80s with the likes of Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Michael Jackson, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, and Johnny Depp, all rocking this classic frame. These were THE shades to have. And it seems things haven’t changed much.
